“Iris Hybridizing through the Seasons”
Terry Aitken is a noted iris hybridizer, garden photographer, past President of the American Iris Society, and past Editor of the quarterly AIS Bulletin. He and his wife Barbara are the owners & operators of Aitken's Salmon Creek Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. Terry has been hybridizing iris for more than 30 years, after being introduced to the hobby by such famous hybridizers as George Shoop, Bennett Jones and Gus Schreiner. To date his iris have won 14 Medals, and he himself has received the prestigious Distinguished Service Medal from AIS.
Through his digital presentation, let him introduce you to both bearded and beardless iris. He will discuss factors affecting hybridization, and illustrate his points with photos of iris in the garden, including many of his latest introductions. Please join us for what promises to be a very memorable event.
All HVIDS activities are open to the general public. Please join us.
