Looking out my window this morning, it’s hard to believe that spring is just around the corner.  The fresh blanket of snow will provide nourishment to the irises that will soon be emerging from the ground.  Our first program this March will be on Xeriscaping.  You will learn to use plants in your garden that you don’t have to worry about watering.  It was designed originally for western gardens, but certainly is applicable around here, particularly during the long dry spells we get around here in the summer.

Below are the first three programs this spring:

Sunday, March 2, 2008 -Refreshments & Socializing at 1:30 PM, Program begins at 2:00 PM, Community Room, Marlboro Free Library,     1251 Route 9W, Marlboro, NY    12542

"Garden thriving despite draught and or dry winters - Xeriscape Gardening" - by Guest Speakers, Lilly Norton and Judy Lawrence - Beautify your yard and conserve our water resources through xeriscaping and the use of waterwise plants

Another event you might want to attend this spring is the Orchid Show at the NY Botanical Garden.  The show will be open from February 23 through April 6.  There will be no New York International Orchid Show this year, so this will be your only chance to see a large collections of orchids in bloom in our area.
